Film Student Scholarships
Providing Financial Aid and Incentive to Film Students
The Monterey County Film Commission Scholarship Award Program was created to provide financial aid and incentive to students of film and beginning filmmakers. In keeping with our mission, the goal is to provide, encourage and support educational opportunities relating to film, to the residents of Monterey County. In 2012, the MCFC’s Film Student Scholarships & Awards Program was renamed to honor of one of our longest-serving Board members, Richard Tyler. The purpose of MCFC’s Director Emeritus Richard Tyler Scholarship Award Program is to annually make awards to deserving film students studying in Monterey County.
The MCFC Scholarship Award Selection Committee will consist of five members: three members of the MCFC Scholarship Award Committee and two local film professionals. The selection committee, the board of directors and employees of the Monterey County Film Commission scholarship sponsors, and family members of the aforementioned shall be ineligible for the Scholarship Award.
If you are a student of film and a resident of Monterey County, or if you are currently enrolled in a community college or university in the County, then you may apply! The Monterey County Film Commission’s Director Emeritus Richard Tyler Film Student Scholarship Award Program is a permanent endowment with the Community Foundation for Monterey County.
