MCFC’s “Hollywood in Your Backyard” Mixer Set for Jan. 9 at Patria Restaurant in Salinas

(Dec. 17, 2024– Monterey, CA)  The Monterey County Film Commission is planning a “Hollywood in Your Backyard” mixer in Salinas on Jan. 9, 2025 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Patria Restaurant.  It’s an opportunity for local film professionals and supporters of filming here to network with others in the film community.

Patria is in Oldtown Salinas at 228 South Main Street, near where the movie “Bandits” was filmed back in 1992, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Cate Blanchett, and Bruce Willis.  Guests will enjoy a glass of wine and small bites while making new connections and finding out more about the role of the Monterey County Film Commission in attracting and assisting on-location film productions.  Since the Monterey County Board of Supervisors created the film commission in 1987, more than $136 million in local economic impact from filming has been realized.

Tickets are $15 ($12 for those listed as film resources on FilmMonterey.org).  It includes a glass of wine, with additional pours available for purchase.  Tickets are limited and can be purchased online at FilmMonterey.org/.   Sponsor for the mixer is Honest Engine Films, an Emmy Award- winning Monterey production company which produces features and documentary films.

The commission helps film production companies find the right locations, local crew, and the various goods and services that productions need.
