9th Annual Carmel Jewish Festival – “Carl Laemmle”

The extraordinary life story of the German Jewish immigrant credited with inventing the modern motion picture business. Creating Universal Pictures in 1912, Laemmle gave many Hollywood legends their starts. Under his leadership, Universal would become known for classic monster movies such as The Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein, and Dracula. In 1936, Carl would go on to do something far more important than any movie or studio he had created.
